My name is Chris Allen and I am here because I need help financially. Last year I was diagnosed with a bulging disc and degenerative disc disease. My back issues have been a problem for the past 5 years and have involved 3 jobs (two of them I was on short-term disability for 2 months) and my last job fired me because of my attendance and back issues. I couldn't get an epidural shot in time to minimize the pain, locking-up and stop the muscle spasms, so my job fired me. I have always been a great, hardworking individual. But because of this, I haven't worked in 8 months. I have sent out close to 150 resumes for all sorts of jobs and have only gotten a handful of calls. When I talk about my last job, my back and the complications, it hinders my chances of gaining employment and making a contribution to society again. I am quite frustrated and don't know what to do.
I had the thought of going back to school and getting a degree in biology and then physical therapy. I can't sit for long periods, can only lift 10lbs and can't bend forward or twist...per my doctors. Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated in any way.
